As Dare 2 Sweat Events labour away to establish the GOLDRUSH, they seek modern-day Hartley & Reilly’s (the pair who first discovered gold in 1862 and sparked the ensuing Central Otago Gold Rush) to join them to help make this epic journey & cycle race an iconic annual fixture on the Central Otago event calendar, intertwined in the region’s history, heart and soul.  

The brave prospectors have shed plenty of blood, sweat and tears in the Central Otago rivers and mountain ranges in search of gold over the last 150 years. THE GOLDRUSH again calls for those with a thirst for a challenge and who are not afraid to dream big, to help the event draw riders in their masses over the Old Dunstan Road in search of personal riches of satisfaction and achievement.
