The Law
Note: In line with NZ Law, it is compulsory for every entrant to wear a NZ safety approved cycle helmet when riding their bike.
-
Self-Responsibility
We put the onus on the entrants to take care of themselves when it comes to packing/carrying carry the essential items they require for a long day in the saddle.
We remind all riders that they will be venturing into remote backcountry where the elements can change quickly, and they need to be entirely self-sufficient between the two refueling stations.

Some Guidance
We suggest that riders consider taking the following items with them but ultimately leave the decision with them to make a smart choice as to what they pack & carry on race day to meet their needs.
Backpack and/or Bike Frame bags to carry warm and/or water-resistant clothing (such as a thermal* top, arm warmers, hat and rain jacket, etc.), solid and liquid food, water, personal comfort & safety items (such as chafe cream, sunscreen, a survival blanket/bag and whistle etc.), plus any personal medication.
Tip – stow extra clothing inside a dry bag, zip-lock bag or vacuum pack them so they are watertight.
Cycle repair tool kit, containing a multi-tool with a chain breaker, 1 spare tube, tire levers, pump or inflation device, a spare compatible chain link. Tire plugs (if running tubeless tires) and some duct tape & cable ties can come in mighty useful in some cases.
* thermal means wool, merino, fleece, down, polypropylene or equivalent material.
