Sections of hike a bike are not out of the question if the going gets tough. Riders need to be comfortable & self-sufficient in remote backcountry surrounds. Riders need to be well adept at taking care of themselves when it comes to packing/carrying the essential items for a long day in the saddle. Bike lights may be required at the end of the day for those at the back of the field. Riders need to be well practiced at effecting necessary clothing changes for shifting weather conditions and maintaining adequate refuelling/hydration when on the bike for hours on end. Riders should have a good understanding and practice at effecting basic bike mechanical repairs. This is a true old-school event course so be prepared for a darn good challenge.
